Hi again! Well, we made it through the blizzard! The last posting I shared a few pictures of the effects of "blizzard 12.14.08"...but later on, I took a few more. It appeared that things were becoming worse as the wind picked up and blew the snow around even MORE! I thought I'd share a few pictures as the evening wore on:

This shows my poor little tree, later in the afternoon...
still standing, but nearly burried in the snow!
Here is another view from the front window,
showing the build-up on the porch railing...I'm amazed the snow
could sit there like that with the wind "howling" about!
This is a view out our back door...looking North across the street.
Things are a bit on the "hazy" side, would you say? I love all
those lights down the street!
Here is Jay trying to clear SOME of the snow off of
our front porch...it was quite a job getting the door open because
of all the drifted in snow!
The next picture shows the depth of the snow on the porch at about 7 p.m.....

The snow you see on that part of the porch it still THERE!
It has not been removed...too heavy to lift up over the railing!
We'll have to come up with another plan, eh?
This is the final picture of the day...night has fallen, and though
the snow has let up, the wind was still blowing! Tree still standing!
I say that deserves a "Hoo-ah!"
The temps fell dramatically overnight, and with the wind gusting from 30-45 miles an hour it made for some serious wind-chill! This morning the snow had stopped, and wind was diminished considerably, but the temps were very cold! Tonight we are to get down to the mid-20 BELOW range! It's "plug-in-the-car time!"
Isn't it a pity that the weather is our main topic of conversation these days? Oh! And to top it all off...we had a couple of people from the WEATHER CHANNEL here to film and talk about our storm! Makin' it national!
I COULD get into a song here....
Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I've bought some corn for popping,
The lights are turned way down low,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
When we finally kiss goodnight,
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm.
The fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still good-bying,
But as long as you love me so,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
On this happy "note"....I will wish you all a happy winter!
